- Oxit sắt đen là hợp chất vô cơ có công thức hóa học là Fe3O4 hay có thể viết thành FeO·Fe2O3. Tên hóa học của nó là sắt (II) sắt (III) oxit. Điều này có nghĩa là cả hai trạng thái oxy hóa sắt II và sắt III đều có mặt trong oxit sắt đen. Trong khoáng vật học, hợp chất này được gọi là “Magnetic ”, nó có màu đen.
